Jane Gay, a top hair-tinting-and-shading technician and trainer with La Biosthetique, should be working her magic on your tresses.

Jane is based at The Avenue where she is head colourist, consultant and trainer.

Recognised and respected throughout Britain and the Continent as an educator and highly skilled colourist, admirers say Jane brings to hair-colour what Michelangelo brought to Renaissance Rome.

From consultation to colour, through to cut and style - Jane's clients are rest assured their crowning glory will be in the most expert of hands, secure in the knowledge that clients flock from all over the UK to have their hair immaculately high-lighted and low-lighted by Jane.

Her journey into the world of exquisite colouring began 25 years ago when her hairdressing career was launched. In the early '90s she trained with L’Oreal, later moving on to Wella where she underwent intense instruction in the finer arts of her profession, including Advanced Colour Correction.

She quickly made an impact, moving to the prestigious La Biothetique (LB) in 2000 where she has continued her education in advanced colouring and colour correction. In 2005 Jane became an international educator, and is now LB’s senior colour trainer, developing colour techniques and trends for LB International. Her time is split between Paris, Berlin and Sheffield, training future great colourists while still working her own magic.

With her invaluable insight, passion and experience, she has even trained others to be award-winning colourists, including The Avenue’s stylist Charlotte Hackford who recently scooped this year’s LB Beauty Stylist Award for colour.

Jane, whose words of wisdom command respect and attention here and abroad, offers this advice to new clients:

‘Great coloured hair should never look coloured.

‘Give someone a wonderful colour and their skin can radiate. The right colour illuminates the face, taking years off, making hair look glossy, healthy and vibrant.

‘I do not understand this attitude to colour of ‘it’ll do.' For me, it’ll only do when it’s perfect.’
